The day had arrived to when Imogen was going to get rid of the monster from her body. All the scans looked for a easy removal, but we were also warned that sometimes scans do not reveal the true tumour size or removal difficulties. What a emotional day, before Immie went to op, my friend Cherrie came to see us (her son had a 13 hour op to remove his tumor) and give us some support and advice on how to handle the long day ahead of us. I definitely think she was qualified!!. We were told the op would take app. 6 hours. We went through all the forms, got to see the surgeon prior to the op and then made the long trip up to surgery. Imogen had been give some medicine to make her sleep and less chance of panic. This made her very dopey but she did not go to sleep. We once again, were asked that we understood what was happening to Imogen today, signed another form. Then Imogen was put on a trolley and with us and nurses rolled into the surgery booth that links to the big surgery ward. Jas sat on the trolley with Immie and they gave her the gas and she still fought to stay awake. That's Immie STUBBORN!!!. Then we left with our hearts in our throats and tears in our eyes. Back down to ward 3b to grab our bags, then to get some brekie and painfully walked the streets of Subiaco...consistently checking the time. Then up to the food court close to the hospital at about 12pm, half way through eating Chinese my phone rang....It was the surgeon to tell us the surgery was over and the tumor was all removed in a matter of 4 hours.
