Imogen's fete

Hi all
The lovely and wonderful people at Landsdale Childcare Centre, approached us about three weeks prior to Imogen's Fete on the 2nd of June 2007 and asked if it would be OK if they did a fete for us...Well what could we say, a way to raise money and awareness that cancer can happen to any one. Born was the idea of Imogen's fete and the madness began..of preparing, rushing and planning.
Parents and staff volunteered their time and words of persuasion in getting more items for the stall and raffles. One of the fantastic mums managed to pester her boss so much she got a signed Ben Cousins Jersey, now that created a lot of interest. People in the community dropped off items to auction and sale....including a bathroom sink (heheh). Businesses in the community were amazing, giving us vouchers, alcohol, toys, baskets of stamping,..you name we had it.
Other businesses gave the food needed to manage the BBQ. We also can't forget to thank the businesses who set up their stores at the fete and gave a portion of their sales to us!!, especially the coffee van...I got extra special freebies from them...how can you say thank you for that pick up buzz.
Though most of all we have to thank the owners and staff of Landsdale Childcare without them it would not have been possible, the venue was the best place we could have held a fete.
On the day the weather was sooo beautiful it was almost hot...we were blessed with that weather. The stalls arrived, the ponies and bouncy castle arrived (both a huge Hit). All the staff ran around like crazy, Mum and I had made a huge sign with all of Imogen's things she had gone through in the months of the treatment ( which all seems a little surreal now) and heaps of beautiful photos of our girl. This sign made a huge impact on everyone most had a read of it and came said to us what a remarkable daughter we had. She really is!!. We were so glad we had assess to this forum to be able to expose this awful horrible frightening monster. The day was a huge sucess with a raising total of enough to make a differences to our lifes and the two charities we had choosen. The church attached to daycare raised even more to help us with our journey.
(thank you we can't thank you enough).
Thank you so much Landsdale Childcare centre, parents and the community.
Most of all Thank you Imogen for opening our eyes to see how precious life really is.
Love Hugs and Kisses
The Holmes Family
P.S. Out of that money we were able to donate a healthy donation to The Red Kite Foundation - who support families whos child are going through cancer treatment and The Lighthouse Lab who are researching Neutroblastoma in WA from Murdoch University. We were so lucky to be able to donate this money, and the feeling of donating that money was one I will never forget, I have no idea why more people with money don't do it!!.The other portion of the fete money will go towards a Queensland family holiday hopefully next July, when we are all back up to scratch.
